This series consists of records from Alphin's tenure as assistant vice president for health affairs and deputy vice president for health affairs and reflect his varied responsibilities at UAB. The files contain general correspondence with Medical Center and state officials concerning issues affecting health-related matters. The correspondence provides information about Alphin's decision to accept a position at UAB and about routine office matters. The correspondence also provides information about issues in the health insurance field that affected UAB. The files also reflect the growth of health care delivery systems in Alabama during the 1970s.
